Summary:
In this paper, activation of REST/NRSF in cultured hippocampal neurons was shown to downregulate the firing activity at the single-cell level and maintain physiological spiking within the neural network. Therefore, REST/NRSF is suggested to play a factor in intrinsic homeostatis of the neuronal network.
