Summary:

The Axion multielectrode array (MEA) was used as an in vitro alternative to screen marine neurotoxins potentially present in seafood. The activity of rat cortical neurons on an MEA when exposed to marine neurotoxins had a sensitivity of 88% and therefore is a valuable tool for food safety testing.
