Summary:

Researchers at the University of Alabama at Birmingham identified the BIN1 locus as a genetic risk factor in Alzheimer's disease (AD). Higher BIN1 expression induced network hyperexcitability on multielectrode arrays indicating that increasing BIN1 drives greater neuronal activity.
